L is for Lifting Wet Watercolor Paint

This technique allows you to manipulate your watercolor backgrounds using a variety of items. For a good tutorial on this technique go to this link.

Paint watercolors over surface. You'll lift off the color while the paint is still wet.
Gently dabbing with a wadded up facial tissue will leave a soft edge to the removal of paint.
Using a wrung out natural sea sponge will lift color in a soft textured manner.
A clean, damp paint brush will lift off color with a sharper edge. You could draw negative images with the brush.
Using a paper towel will remove more paint than the other techniques.
Here you can see the different paint removal effects with the different objects.
