Page for Lynn's World of Color Round Robin Journal

I received Lynn's wonderful World of Color Round Robin Journal as part of a swap on Kindred Soul's Art Group. Lynn choose Red & Black as her colors. These colors make me think of Spain & flamenco! I painted the page red with acrylic paint and covered with a black lace that had a decorative edge Used the decorative edge to hang over the right side, sewed the edges together and added various red beads.
Randomly stamped some black script on the background of a flamenco dancer image with black ink and layered over red and black ribbons. Added a red and a black feather to the image along with some beads. Made a large flower using the tattered floral die with black paper and some faux velvet I had in my stash, along with some black lace and a black bead.
I decided not to add anything "extra" to the back of the page, but the lace and ribbons that were wrapped all around, except I added some more red beads to the black lace on the edge.
Time to send the book of to the next participant.....

RED Perception ATC Swap

We've started a new swap on ArtVentures Group: Color Perceptions. Each month there will be a different color. We are to think how the color makes us feel, interpret that and have the atc be predominately that color.  This month the color is RED.  Red = Passion, not just romantic, but that feeling of intense desire.
I started by making a background of faux velvet. Sprayed two baby wipes with various red color sprays on plastic and let them dry overnight.
Once the baby wipes have dried, I trimmed them and adhered them to card stock. I rubbed one side of an embossing folder with fired brick Distress Ink and embossed the baby wipe.  On the left is a piece before being embossed, you can see it has the manufactures imprint in the wipe. After running through the embossing folder, the manufactures imprint has disappeared and only the embossing from the folder shows.

I used aged mahogany Distress Ink to color the edges and some of the raised areas.
Choose an image of a dancer, cut it out. I colored over most of the black areas with a metallic red Gelly Roll pen and a red Pigma pen.
Adhered the dancer image to the background with some bits of red feathers and a red rhinestone. Stamped the words " i live to dance" on old book paper with red StazOn ink and added to the top. Added 3 red brads to the lower right corner.
Here's a side view to show off the shine from the metallic pen on the dress.

Heart Card

I had extra faux velvet after making the heart shaped atcs, so decided to make more hearts for cards to swap at my upcoming stamp club.
I wanted these to lie fairly flat for mailing, so I cut out the key holes from paper instead of mat board. The paper was some I had in the bottom of my spray box. I used brown StazOn to color the top and edges of the key hole and the sides of the heart. I stamped flourishes on parchment colored paper with tea stain Distress ink. Stamped the saying and keys with brown StazOn ink. Added bronze brads to the key hole. Layered all onto a red card.

Heart Shaped ATC

On DCI group we are making Heart Shaped ATCs this month. The only requirement was the heart could not be taller than 3-1/2" or wider than 2-1/2". I made Faux Velvet paper as seen in this post, only sprayed on a small amount of Perfect Pearls copper in the mix. I cut out this heart shape and colored the edges with Coffee Bean Brilliance ink.
I had a nice sized piece of brown mat board that I ran through an embossing folder and then used a key hole die to cut out that shape. Colored the edges with a black marker and used Coffee Bean Brilliance ink over the surface.
Adhered the key hole to the heart with black brads after placing some tissue tape under the key opening. Added black ribbon, a flower with the tips inked with Coffee Bean Brilliance ink and the word "Love" stamped on with dark brown StazOn ink, and used another black brad to attach a small key.
I've titled it "Love Opens the Heart".

F is for Faux Velvet

One more faux technique from Technique Junkies. This one looks better in person, than in pictures. I made some adjustments.
Place a baby wipe on plastic and spray with color washes of your choice and either use a spray with glimmer or spray on some perfect pearls mixed with water. I choose these intense reds and some left over orange I had made previously. Let dry (it takes a while)
Cut dyed dried baby wipe to size and adhere to card stock, then run through an embossing folder.
I wanted the embossing to stand out a bit more, so I cut another piece, adhered to card stock and on the side of the embossing folder that would push down, inked with red Distress ink and then ran through the embossing folder.
Since I choose a red, that wasn't darker than the red already in the baby wipe, the difference is subtle, but I do think it makes the embossing seem to stand out more.
