Circle/Swirl ATC

The theme for the 9ATC Group is Circle/Swirl. I decided to use the Bokeh Technique for my background. Started by wiping 3 different shades of blue dye inks over the background (direct to paper) and let it dry.

Used a round sponge to add two shades of purple dye ink and dabbed with a damp paper towel to soften the color a bit and let it dry.

Then I used white pigment ink to sponge onto the background over a circle stencil and used the eraser on the end of the pencil to add smaller circles to the background and let it dry (this is the last step of the bake technique).

Used a violet Distress Oxide ink to stamp a circle and swirl flourish image over the background and heat set it.

Used black StaZon Ink to stamp on a different circle swirl flourish and a dragonfly image. Used this ink to also ink the edges of the atc. Used a purple glitter metallic gel pen to add a dotted border around the edge. Adhered a purple "pearl" at the bottom of the flourish image.

Used vintage photo Distress Ink to stamp a floral flourish onto the background and to color the edges of the ATC.

Used a die cut to cut a bird image out of music score paper and colored the edges with the vintage paper Distress Ink. Used punches to cut out the music note and the heart shape  out of blue card stock to use for the eye. Used a die cut to. cut out the letters s-i-n-g out of the same blue card stock.

Using Stencils ATC

The theme for 9ATC Group is Using Stencils. I decided to make a double stenciled background. First, colored the card stock yellow by applying the ink pad directly to the paper (dtp) and heat set. Then inked blue Distress ink onto the card stock through a stencil with a jumbo dauber and heat set.
Next, used another stencil and dabbed on a purple Distress ink with the jumbo dauber and heat set.
Finished by stamping a butterfly image with black Distress Ink, heat set, then added 3 small red rhinestones.

Venice ATCs

The theme is Venice on 9ATC Group. I decided to create an ATC inspired by the Venetian Carnevale.
Used the edge of a stormy sky Distress ink pad to create vertical stripes over the card stock, then with the same ink pad used dtp method to cover the card stock.
Next stamped a graphic image and wavy lines with varnished wood Distress ink.
Then inked the same graphic image with black soot Distress ink and stamped over the first image, just a fraction off.  Also stamped a masked face image on the card stock.

Used black soot Distress ink to stamp letters to spell our CARNEVALE on the upper portion. Found a vintage image of a masked harlequin, cut out and adhered to the atc.

Crow ATC

The theme is Crows for the 9ATC Group.
Applied yellow Distress Ink to card stock with DTP (Direct-to-Paper) technique. Heat set. Then put on a circle mask and applied orange Distress Ink over the surface and let dry. I didn't worry that the masked area was irregular.
Placed a tree stencil over the ATC and sponged on rusty hinge Distress Ink and let it dry.
Used black Distress Ink to stamp on feather image. Tore off a piece of a music sheet and adhered tot he ATC. Stamped a crow and crown with black Distress Ink on white card stock, cut them out and adhered to the ATC. Used red glitter pen to color the crow's eye.

"Chartreuse" Color Perception ATC

The color is Chartreuse (yellow/green or green/yellow) in September for the Color Perceptions ATC Swap on the ArtVentures Group. The ATC is to be predominately chartreuse and be how the color chartreuse makes us feel. I find this shade to be "Jarring" for some reason it sets me on edge.
Started with a glitter embossed card stock with an off shade of green and used dtp (direct-to-paper) application of a yellow green shade of dye ink over this card stock.

Tore up different yellow green and green yellow background papers and stamped with different shades of green.

Stamped a women's face in a circle image with black India ink over light yellow green paper and adhered to the card stock.
Colored the edges of of the torn & stamped background papers with crushed olive Distress ink and adhered them over the card stock and onto the stamped face.

Colored the outside edge of the ATC with crushed olive Distress ink; added colored sticker letters to spell "stop" and used metallic gel pens to add some jarring circular design.

Summer ATC

On ArtVentures Group, the theme for ATCs is "Summer". I think of the short time we have for fun in the sun, so we need to "dive in" to enjoy the great weather and play in the sun!
First I used the dtp (direct to paper) application of different shades of yellow Distress Inks to card stock and heat set to stop of blending of colors.

Next, sponged on honey dye ink over a stencil, then stamped a sun image in orange Distress Ink, then heat set.

Used some paper that had excess blue paints and inks on it. Then stenciled on different shades of blue Distress Inks over different stencils on different ends of the paper.
Tore the blue paper into strips and added some stamped images with darker blue Distress ink.

Added a vintage image of a swimmer; stamped words with black Archival Ink.

Goosebumps Play

Last night at stamp club, John from Imagine Crafts came with Goosebumps, inks, paper, etc and led us in a fun play time. Wish I'd brought my camera, but here a pictures of what I made. Goosebumps is a textured resist medium. We were each given a bottle of Shimmer Goosebumps to play with and keep. The first images are all done on plain white card stock.
Placed a plastic stencil over paper, sprayed on the Shimmer Goosebump (then flipped this over onto another white paper and pressed down to get the reverse stencil on the second sheet). Let dry, then applied 3 different color inks over all from the ink pad (ftp). Then used Ink Potion no. 9 blending solution. Then sprayed on some blue Fireworks shimmer spray.
This is the reverses stencil image from above, using the same ink colors dtp. Then stamped on images with dark blue dye ink.
The next 3 pieces were done using plain Goosebumps in a dabber bottle. The Goosebumps was dabbed onto stamps and the stamp stamped on to white card stock. On this one, rainbow dye ink was applied with a brayer, blue Fireworks shimmer spray was sprayed on. Then the same dragonfly stamp was inked with blue ink and stamped over the card. The dye ink does not stick to the Goosebumps, so the images appear under the white ones.
Inks applied by ftp.
Inks from a rainbow ink pad applied with a brayer, then a pink Fireworks shimmer spray was sprayed on.
The next two are pre printed background papers. On the first a stencil was placed down and Shimmer Goosebumps sprayed over them, on the second, the wet stencil was turned over and pressed on that paper. Used different rainbow ink pads and a brayer to color over the papers. On the top one, I also sprayed some blue Fireworks shimmer spray.

Shimmer Goosebumps was sprayed over these next two sheets of printed background papers, then inked with rainbow ink pads using a brayer, then sprayed with Ink Potion no. 9 blending solution.

This flower image was stamped and embossed with black embossing powder. Was colored with dye markers. Shimmer Goosebumps was painted over the flower image, this gives the image a stained glass look. Not captured well in my photo.
And this is the work sheet protecting the table. I love all the colors and shimmer, it will be used in a future project.
Now I have lots of gorgeous papers to turn into projects, and lots of ideas to use the Goosebumps spray!!!!

P is for Pearly Mottled Paper

This technique is from Julia Andrus' book "Paper Transformed".
I used non coated card stock and instead of a brayer, I rubbed the Distress Inks directly on the paper (dtp).
Sprayed water over the paper, creating "mottled spots".
While paper was still damp, brushed on gold & kiwi Perfect Pearls over the surface.
 Here's how it turned out!
I cut this background into ATC sized pieces. I'm going to use these as my backgrounds for round 3 of our Sudoku ATC swaps.
