Book Study - Dabber Resist

We're continuing our book study of Tim Holtz's "A Compendium of Curiosities", on NGS group. This week is the section on "Dabber Resist". This is an acrylic paint resist technique, but I must admit that the Dabbers make it easy to apply acrylic paint onto stamps and with practically no mess. For this technique, Tim recommends using Snow Cap White for this technique. I tried it on both white card stock and on manilla folder. Make sure to wash the acrylic paint off your stamps before the paint dries. You can let the paint dry on the paper or quicken the drying by using a heat tool.
Ink over the paper with Distress Inks, using a blending tool and circular motions.
Completely ink over the paper with ink colors of your choice.
Tim doesn't say to, but I like to heat set the colors before this step. Use a paper towel of cloth, lightly misted with water to wipe off the inks from the paint. Tim says a baby wipe is too wet for this step.
Here are my finished backgrounds. This technique gives a sharper image of the stamped design than is seen in the Blended Batik technique. Both are great techniques, just depends on the look you are going for.
Decided to try it again with silver Dabber on both white card stock and manilla folder.
Used blended blue Distress inks to cover this set.
Here are the finished backgrounds with the silver paint.
Lots of possibilities with this technique.
