"Green" Color Perceptions ATC

For September, in the Color Perceptions ATC swap on ArtVentures, the color is Green. The ATC is supposed to be predominately green, and be based on how green makes me feel.  I like to hike, and when I'm in the woods, I love all the different variations of green together and the feeling of life. So green makes me Revitalized!

I had some lovely floral embossed paper in my stash. Cut it into ATC sized pieces and covered it with yellow green acrylic paint and let it dry. Then rubbed green metallic Rub-ons over the surface.

Added some Peeled Paint Distress Stickles to parts of the background.

 Attached some various green fabrics and best to the right side; some green feathers behind a green fairy image (a little Peeled Paint Distress Stickles to her wings); a couple of green plastic flowers and some green rhinestones. Reminds me new life in the forest and lots of layers of lovely greens!

Sox's Round Robin Journal Page

Today, I finished my page for Sox's Round Robin Journal on Kindred Souls Art Group. Sox choose to make her journal about a French Countess traveling around the world in the late 1800's. I decided to send the countess across the Pacific in a "new" flying boat on her way to the Kingdom of Hawaii:

Numbers ATC

This month's theme on 9ATC group is Numbers. I stamped the backwards Numbers stamp onto an embossing folder with black soot Distress Ink, then embossed this numbers folder on printed paper, this prints the numbers on the paper, but not where the embossing folder raised the larger numbers.

 Colored the raised large numbers with vintage photo Distress Ink.

 Trimmed the background, layered it on dark brown card stock, added a vintage image, some words and measure tape ribbon.

Page for Lynn's World of Color Round Robin Journal

I received Lynn's wonderful World of Color Round Robin Journal as part of a swap on Kindred Soul's Art Group. Lynn choose Red & Black as her colors. These colors make me think of Spain & flamenco! I painted the page red with acrylic paint and covered with a black lace that had a decorative edge Used the decorative edge to hang over the right side, sewed the edges together and added various red beads.

 Randomly stamped some black script on the background of a flamenco dancer image with black ink and layered over red and black ribbons. Added a red and a black feather to the image along with some beads. Made a large flower using the tattered floral die with black paper and some faux velvet I had in my stash, along with some black lace and a black bead.

 I decided not to add anything "extra" to the back of the page, but the lace and ribbons that were wrapped all around, except I added some more red beads to the black lace on the edge.

Time to send the book of to the next participant.....

"Yellow" Color Perceptions ATC

For August, in the Color Perceptions ATC swap on ArtVentures, the color is Yellow. The ATC is supposed to be predominately yellow, and be based on how yellow makes me feel.  For me yellow feels hopeful, and got me thinking about the Yellow Brick Road and humming "follow, follow, follow, follow, follow the yellow brick road!"

I used two shades of yellow card stock and ran them through a brick embossing folder that had vintage photo Distress Ink rubbed on one side. Made sure to run the bricks vertically in one shade of yellow, and horizontally in the other shade of yellow.

 I laid the two pieces of embossed yellow card stock on top of each other and cut out a winding road. The edges were colored with vintage photo Distress Marker and adhered to dark brown card stock, switching the different shades of yellow to give contrast between the "road" and the background.

 Made a large star embellishment by punching out different sized stars out of different yellow papers and adding some yellow glitter, a yellow brad and some thin gold card stock behind the star.

 Attached the large star embellishment. Stamped the words "follow your dreams" on very light yellow card stock and added them to the ATC.

Fabric of Nature ATCs

These are for an ATC swap on Kindred Souls Art Group, the theme is the Fabric of Nature, somehow I thought it was the Nature of Fabric, but it works either way for me ;). No paper is to be used in this swap and we are to keep our colors, soft, faded and vintage like.

I used fusible web to to adhere muslin to the back of batting and on the front used fusible web to layer cotton eyelet over a vintage pink handkerchief  and to adhere appliquéd flowers from other vintage handkerchiefs. The lace edgings were sewn on by hand. I really liked how these looked, but decided to add just a bit more.

 Used fusible web to adhere ecru lace over muslin and a die to cut out the butterfly shapes. Added  beads to make the butterfly bodies. Then added some white flowers cut out from lace trimmings and added some small beads when sewing them on. Also added same small beads to the larger appliquéd flowers.

Pam's Round Robin Journal Page

Today, I finished my page for Pam's Round Robin Journal on Kindred Souls Art Group. Pam choose Ornate Doors for her theme. I decided to use an ornate frame die to create my door. Started with two pieces of previously made background papers. On the left is a sheet of paste paper, on the right is a resist with acrylic paint background that didn't turn out as I hoped, but knew would come in handy one day.

 After cutting out the ornate frame for both pieces, wrinkled up a sheet of iridescent wrapping paper and glued between to two frames. I like how the little bits of blue, purple & gold over the black give it an old chipped paint over metal look. Added a key embellishment with a "jeweled" rhinestone as the handle and the attached the door to some decorative paper with brass fasteners and large brads. Used decorative washi tape around the outside endues.

 When the door is opened, there is a picture I took in Panama that has been stamped over with travel related stamps using midnight blue StazOn ink.

 For the back, stamped sayings and compass image with the same StazOn ink, also added some key washi tape.

Pam's journal is fabulous, love the ornate door cover she created, and so many fabulous pages inside. This traveling journal swap is so much fun!!!
