Another Christmas Card

Used faded photo Distress ink on one side of an embossing folder, place white card stock inside and ran through a Cuttlebug. Layered it on red card. Stamped candle image on white card stock with black India Ink. Colored with Distress Markers and metallic Gelly roll pens.
Another easy card that will mail flat.

More Christmas Cards

Need more Christmas cards. Decided to use some of the backgrounds I have on hand that are cut to ATC size to use on the cards. I think my arty friends will appreciate these.
Choose a vintage image, printed it out in reverse on TAP paper and ironed onto some of the backgrounds. This image appears better on the lighter backgrounds.
Used some old Caroling Song book sheets for the background.  For most of them, I tore the right side edge. Ran the sheet through an embossing folder, after rubbing the inside of the folder with vintage photo Distress ink, and running through the Cuttlebug. Added a dimensional ornament sticker.
On some of the music sheets I colored the raised holly with green Distress ink.
I wasn't able to get the TAP transfer to work with the crackle paste background (upper left of the ones below) so I cut out a vintage image and adhered that instead. I had some Christmas themed ATCs left over from last year, that I decided looked better on the cards then on their own.

Comfort Quilt

I was able to finish another quilt for Comfort Quilters. Used the disappearing 9 Patch pattern with donated 5-1/2" squares.

Christmas Card

Time to make some Christmas cards. I recently received some of Tim Holtz's stencils and a friend wondered how these were to be used, she especially liked the ray one. I directed her to Tim's blog. Then decided it would be fun to use this stencil in my Christmas card. Card stock in red with tiny gold sparkles in them Layered the stencil over the card and sponged on gold Encore! ink.
 Love how this turned out!
Stamped a verse and a shepherd image with black India Ink. Used a gold Pearl Pen to add some dimension to the stamped star near the shepherds.
Layered the stenciled & stamped card over a gold paper layer, then onto a red card.
Hope you are all finding some time to be creative and be filled with joy during this Advent Season!

Mixed Media Using an Image Transfer ATC

This month in 9ATC group the theme is mixed media using an image transfer. I choose a piece of background paper I liked and transferred an angel image using TAP.
Next, stamped a butterfly image and letters with white acrylic paint.
When the paint dried, used a gold metallic Gelly pen to color in the letters and to outline the butterfly image.
To finish, cut gold paper with a lacy die cut and adhered to the right side.

Mary-Beth's Birthday Page

I'm in the Birthday Club on Kindred Souls Art Group. We decorate a 4"x4" page for the recipient, leaving the left edge free of embellishments so the page can be bound in a book. Mary-Beth's birthday is in December, so I made her this page:
I covered the edges of the page with washi tape I rubbed Sepia Archival Ink over. An angel image was printed on TAP paper and ironed onto a dictionary page, I glued this to the board. Added a bit of lacy ribbon, a paper flower, a metal butterfly and sticker letters to spell J-O-Y.
The back is a pieced of background paper I stamped a saying on with Sepia Archival Ink.

Eileen's Birthday Page

I'm in the Birthday Club on Kindred Souls Art Group. We decorate a 4"x4" page for the recipient, leaving the left edge free of embellishments so the page can be bound in a book. Eileen's birthday is in December, so I made her this page:
Used an angel image on TAP paper and transferred it onto a printed fabric. Adhered some lacy ribbon, a fabric flower and some metal letters to spell J-O-Y.
The back is a sheet of background paper with a saying stamped in Sepia Archival ink.

"Violet" Color Perceptions ATC

For December, in the Color Perceptions ATC swap on ArtVentures Group, the color is Violet. The ATC is supposed to be predominately violet, and be based on how violet makes me feel. For this swap, Violet  is more blue than red and Purple (November's color) is more red than blue. To me, violet seems to be a color of mystery.
Started with a lavender piece of card stock, and stamped a collage image with dusty concord Distress Ink and used this ink to color the edges of the card. Then over stamped some symbols and other images with Spring Iris dye ink around the edges.

Altered a vintage image by using violet ink to print it, used a purple metallic Gelly pen to add detail, added some lavender netting as a veil, and added a feather. Also used the purple metallic Gelly pen to the eye image.

"Purple" Color Perceptions ATC

For November, in the Color Perceptions ATC swap on ArtVentures Group, the color is Purple. The ATC is supposed to be predominately purple, and be based on how purple makes me feel. For this swap, Purple is more red than blue and Violet (December's color) is more blue than red. I also love the Color Purple (and Violet, too!), purple gets me thinking and dreaming and imagining, so my Perception of Purple is Dreamy.

I got a paper towel wet and sprayed it with Wild Plum Color Wash, wadded it up and dabbed it over a sheet of background paper that had a tan/brown background. Let everything dry, and ironed the paper towel.
Stamped a background stamp over the paper with seedless preserves Distress Ink and let it dry.
Wet the back ground and brushed on Plum Perfect Pearls and let dry.
Glued a torn piece of the above paper towel to the top of the ATC, stamped "shoot the moon" with black India Ink on a light purple ribbon and glued it on top. Used TAP transfer paper to transfer a vintage image in purple ink on to white mulberry paper and cut & tore it out. Added 3 small purple "pearls" to the bottom right edge.

Sox's World of Color Journal

In the Kindred Souls Art group, Sox chose Sepia & Black as the colors for her journal. The pages done so far are luscious. For the base of the page (front & back), I glued down part of a music sheet and lacy looking background paper that were cut on the diagonal. On the front page, added some washi tape; along the diagonal, glued on some fabric printed ribbons. Made a large flower out of lace, crochet & fabric, placed a vintage looking photo in the center of a circular frame and added a large metal leaf. Used stickers and a Dyno-maker to create the words "dance with me".
On the back, attached the title of the song from the music sheet with washi tape. Used a decorative blace ribbon along the diagonal and added some heart shape cut out textured paper (2 were used to make the butterfly after embossing words on the wings) and some black buttons.
Should be in the mail soon to the next participant.

Mechanical Marvels ATC

The theme on 9ATC Group is Mechanical Marvels. I knew I wanted to make a mechanical dragonfly, but couldn't find enough gears and watch parts to make 9. My sister was up visiting and went with me to the craft store and found lots of interesting bits in the jewelry dept. She wasn't sure how I would use them, but I'm happy with how it turned out. Thanks Laraine for this great collaborative project. I adhered the dragonfly on to some decorative background paper and colored the edges with a silver metal leafing pen.

Wax ATC

Wax is the theme/medium on 9ATC Group. I decided to make a melted crayon background. I taped some crayons together above a piece of coated card stock and heated them with a heat tool while trying to hold it all upright and let the melting wax drip down the card stock.
You can see that the results varied each time.
I stamped the umbrella man with black Archival ink and coated card stock, cut out the image and adhered it to the melted wax background. Used a Dyno maker to print out words and stick them on the ATC.

Stencil Play

Decided to make a few backgrounds for later. Sprayed some green Memories Mists over dictionary pages and let dry.
On one, used copper stencil paste over a clock stencil:
On another used light molding paste over a bird stencil. Have some extra texture, because I didn't apply the paste evenly.
On the third, used crackling paste over a dragonfly stencil. I reread the jar and it says it takes 3-4 days for this paste to "cure". It will be interesting to see what it does when I come back from vacation.

Comfort Quilts

I had time to finish a couple more quilts for Comfort Quilters. Found a fun African panel, cut it into four pieces and created borders and sashing out of leftover scraps!
Another Disappearing 9Patch, this one made out of oriental design fabrics

Quick Christmas Card

For stamp club this month we were to make Holiday cards. I decided to make quick Christmas cards. Stamped Merry Merry Christmas with dark gray ink on a paper with lighter gray dots and layered it on a white card. Added 3 different snowflakes punched out of textured white paper and added 2 small and 1 larger rhinestones.
