Quilt for Comfort Quilters

This quilt was made with fabrics donated to our group. I fell in love with the large floral panel.

I am trying to use up some of my fabric stash. Lots of these pinks & purples and the blue floral are leftovers from making skirts & dresses for my granddaughter. Some are left over from other quilt projects. I'm sure this quilt will be a blessing to someone.

These fabrics were featured in the Western Washington Shop Hop a few years ago. I decided it was time to use them up and make a quilt for Comfort Quilters.

It's fun to go to church and find what fabrics have been donated to our group. There are always mixtures of small pieces 1/4 yd up to  3-4 yards of one fabric. Then, the best part, choosing fabrics to go together and a pattern to go with them. I had this white fabric at home, that I think pulls these bight fabrics together. I think I used just about every inch of the large floral print.

Wedding Ribbon Cake Card

Cakes aren't just for birthdays. I used fabric ribbon to make this wedding cake along with thin gold ribbon and some small fabric flowers. Ribbon was adhered to a sheet of shimmery paper that had been embossed in an embossing folder and layered on gold paper over a cream card.

Ribbon Cake Birthday Cards

It was my turn to do the demo at stamp club. I saw a similar card on Pintrest, and I thought "what a great way to use up scraps of ribbons"!

Stamp birthday saying onto a piece of paper, white or colored. Use an embossing folder to add textured to this paper, which will go behind the birthday cake. Layer the textured paper onto a colored piece of card stock and then layer both onto the base card.
Choose an assortment of ribbons, cut to graduating lengths and adhere to the textured layer. Punch out candle from scraps of paper. Or make candles by cutting small strips of colored paper and adding small colored rhinestones or "pearls" to be the flames.
I though these were fun to make used up lots of bits of ribbons and I can also use birthday cards.

Quilt for my cousin

This was a fun quilt to make. It used a border print as large stripes and an assortment of blocks on point.

A quick baby quilt. Sewed fun multicolored striped fabric around this fun ABC fabric.

The theme in stamp club this month is sympathy or encouragement cards. I made this sympathy card:

Rocket Quilt for My Grandson

My Grandson has moved to a big boy bed. He loves rockets, so I have made this quilt for him. Here is the front:

For the back, I found this fun solar system panel and used left over rocket fabrics:

Mixed Media with use of Stencils ATC

The month's theme on the 9ATC Group is Mixed Media with us of Stencils. I decided to use the Layering Stencils technique Tim Holtz showed in his Sept tag. I started by using pearlescent stencil paste over a stencil in the upper right corner of the atc (which is cut up manilla folder). Then I heat set the stencil paste with a heat tool. Remember to wash the stencil paste off the stencil right away.

Next, used the same stencil over the bottom of the atc and sponged on white acrylic paint and let it dry.

Then, lightly sprayed the atc and ran three colors of Distress Stain over the atc. Again, lightly sprayed the stains with water, then heat set. The stencil past absorbed some of the Distress stain, but the acrylic paint acts a resist to the stains.

 Then I used a clock stencil over the atc and sponged aged mahogany Distress Ink over all.

 Then I placed a small dot stencil over the right half of the atc and sponged on picked raspberry Distress Ink.

 Next, placed a different clock stencil over the left half of the atc, and sponged on black soot Distress Ink.

 To finish, inked the edges with bronze pigment ink and glued on a bronze colored charm.

World of Color Journal Complete

My World of Color Journal came home, and I found the time to bind it together. I punched 7 holes along the left side and used a variety of purple and blue fibers through the holes, tied them to form "rings".  The colors for my Journal are blue & purple. All the participants are from the Kindred Art Souls Group.
