Quilted Wall Hanging for Annie

I made this quilted wall hanging for Annie's birthday that's coming up this week.
I made a simple 9 patch out of two batik fabrics and stamped some appropriate sayings on the lighter material with black Versafine ink.
I quilted the piece with decorative stitch. I had made some art images from photos of Annie's grandchildren last year. I printed these out on gessoed canvas along with a saying I liked. This were sewn on the quilt.
I used the same brown batik fabric to sew on the binding. Added a silver heart charm and key to the center block with decorative purple threads. Sewed on two smaller matching hearts to the upper corners to tie on the decorative ribbons used to hang the quilt.
On the back I stamped a birthday wish I like and signed my name. Also sewed a sleeve to the upper back, in case Annie would rather use a dowel to hang the quilt, than the ribbons. Options are good. Hope this gets to Annie not too many days after her birthday.

  1. Lovely hanging. I love all those sayings stamps you have. Did it take you a long time to collect them all?

  2. I love quotes and sayings, so I can't help buying them up, and have been getting them for many years. Most of these came off polymer stamp sheets with lots of quotes for one price.
