I've signed up for a 6:5 ATC swap on ccswaps with the theme of Texture. I've been wanting to play some more with acrylic molding paste, so this was a great opportunity to use it. I spread the molding paste over a 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" piece of card stock.
While the molding paste was still wet, I stamped a large script background stamp into it. And then immediately washed my stamp with a soft toothbrush and water.
I wasn't trying to get the words to show, as much as adding texture to the background. I let this dry.
I painted the surface with black acrylic paint and let dry.
Then painted over that with Quinacridone Magenta acrylic paint and let it dry.
Ran a silver Brilliance ink pad along the edges of the card and over the top to show off the texture and let it dry.
I cut large hearts out of black paper and painted them with platinum Distress crackle paint and waited for it to dry. Then ran it through the xryon sticker maker to apply adhesive to the back. Next ran the heart through a Cuttlebug embossing folder. Colored the heart with a mixture of red and black alcohol ink using a felt applicator.
I just sended of my ATC's for the "resist"ATC's of CSSwaps... My first participation...
ReplyDeleteYou're already busy with the next challenge !
I guess if I want one of your beauties I will have to participate in this one too...:)
I like your background, the structure of your hearts...
Great techniques you used !

I don't know whether I am more amazed at how beautiful everything is that you make or how you have the patience to stick with a project through so many steps of preparing and drying each layer.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lisa. Some steps, I can use my heat tool to speed things along. Other times, like with the molding paste and crackle paint, I either prepare other steps or go work on other things like scrapbooking or sewing. The pictures aren't always in the order I do them, I try to write the posts to make the steps easy to understand. LOL or at least that's my intention.
ReplyDeleteI stopped by to see what you were working on and I was going to say almost the same thing as Lisa!
ReplyDeleteCan you tell me about how long it takes for the paste to dry?
Again, just want to say how much I love the step by step instructions.
I haven't really timed the paste drying. It depends on how thick you apply it. I went and worked on something else, and when I came back about an hour later, they were dry.
ReplyDeleteI have this medium- what a wonderful new way for me to use it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration!
