I'm participating in a swap for the Chunky Book Artist group. This chunky is to share about ourselves: a hint of what a day in our life is like, something about where we live. A journal page and an art page. Instead of the traditional front and back of a page, we are to do two pages that will seen at the same time (facing each other) when the book is open, with the journal page on the left and art page on the right. These will be attached to the reverse side of others' pages. We had to incorporate Tyvek somewhere in our pages. [Since part of the fun is to discover where & how each person used Tyvek in their work, I won't discuss my use of it : )] Also needed to leave room on the inside margins for the binding to occur. Whew!
I wanted to include my interests in paper/mixed media, fabrics & photography. For the journal page, I took a photograph of a view from our home and altered it in Photoshop to give an impressionistic feel. To include the paper/mixed media interest, I added the woman as a journal platform.
In Quilting Arts magazine special holiday issue, I saw some mixed-media samplers that had this great homespun feel about them. That was the inspiration for my art side. I had to shorten the fabric part to allow for the binding. I liked how this turned out. I'm so excited to see what all the artists create for this chunky when it is done. Big THANKS to Jessie for inspiring us in this project.
Carol, I like the new look to your art page, it all works well together. Can hardly wait to see it in person.
