Metal Tape & embossing folder

In the last post, I showed one of the techniques using Metal Tape in Bernie Berlin's book "Artist Trading Card Workshop". Bernie also shows how to create designs in the metal tape by stamping on a design and using a stylus to emboss in the design. I decided to use an embossing folder as a quicker step.
First I padded my card back by applying carpet tape. Then I covered it with the metal tape.
Used the back of a spoon to smooth out the tape.
Used the back side of an embossing folder to "deboss" an image into the metal tape covered card.
Then cover the card with black paint (I used cheap acrylic paint), making sure that the paint goes into all the crevices.
Then wipe the black paint off the surface of the raised flat area. Love how this looks:
To complete the ATC, added a vintage image, a metal heart and some small blue rhinestones:

  1. I forgot about doing the spoon thing! The black paint and contrast is fabulous! Thanks!
