Book Review: Waterplay

This is the last section of Nancy Curry's book "Texture Effects for Rubber Stamping", we've been doing a book study with it on NGS. This week we're looking at the sections "Architecturally Speaking", "Concerto" and "Whimsy". Nancy used highly pigmented watercolors on glossy card stock. She mentioned that diluted dye inks would also work.
I dropped on eggplant and butterscotch Color Washes on a waxy palette paper and misted with spray, letting some of the colors blend.
Laid glossy card stock into the colors and pressed. Then lifted up the paper. Used a toothbrush to pick up some of the blended color to splatter on.

Used heat tool to speed drying. Used toothbrush to pick up some of the eggplant dye and spattered it on.

Cut off a piece and stamped on an image with dark purple Distress ink, also used this ink to color the edges of the card stock.

Dropped on some more eggplant and butterscotch color wash on to the waxy palette sheet, sprayed with water and dipped in a piece of yellow card stock (non glossy). This paper absorbed more of the ink and was more intense in color than on the glossy card stock. Brushed on gold Perfect Pearls along the sides.

Ran yellow sheet through a script Cuttlebug embossing folder, colored raised areas with dark purple Distress ink. Colored edges of the yellow and the glossy card stock with a gold leafing pen. Stamped swirls with dark purple Distress ink on to a purple card. Layered all the pieces and added 3 gold foil stickers to the bottom.

I highly recommend Nancy's book. She has beautiful cards, with wonderful color photography with detailed step-by-step instructions. She has lots of helpful hints and makes some great embellishments to use with her projects.
