Using Scraps in Cards

They needed someone to do the demo at Stamp Club, so I signed up. I decided to get us playing with our paper scraps for some easy cards. I searched on Pintrest for ideas and made some samples to take to club. (I decided to take pictures on black paper for the cards to stand out, but in my rush did not do a good job of cropping the black paper, sorry) It was fun using up scraps, so I made lots of samples!

First: punching out scraps.  I like the different black & cream papers punched out in hearts. With I love you stamped in the middle.
Then punching out butterfly shapes and placing them on paper embossed with different embossing folders:

Then using paper strips. First, cutting our decorative edges out of the top paper and adhering over strips of background paper.
On this one I also added flowers punched out of scrap paper and dots from a paper hole punch.
Used coordinating paper scraps in vertical strips to make a background and added two other papers underneath and layered all on a blue paper. To blend these different papers together, I stamped over them with a large confetti stamp. Also stamped and cut out a cupcake and added a punched out candle.
This is the same layout with different papers and added punched out flower.
Another fun idea with paper strips is to use them in a sunburst design. Stamped image on a circle, layered it on blue paper, placed it on the lower corner and cut off the extra edges. Also added "pearls" to the upper right edge.

Same card with different papers.

Next, playing with inches, another fun way to use up paper scraps:

Then placing inches on the diagonal and layering over paper embossed with embossing folders.
Placing inches in a grid pattern and added a punched dragonfly, a small rhinestone and color the center piece with glitter pens.
This is the same design, but using inchie stamps in the same color of ink over word printed paper. Also adhered them on white paper and layered on a green paper before adding to the card.

Then I found a pattern using 3/4" squares (assorted scraps) over two different pattern papers. Also added a decorative butterfly, "pearl" and tied on some fiber.
Same pattern with black and cream 3/4" scraps

Meaningful Lyric ATC

This month on 9QTC group, the theme is Meaningful Lyric. I choose a vintage image and printed some of the lyrics from Leonard Cohen's "Ain't No Cure for Love" on the image.
Stamped a flourish on the left side with gold Pigment ink, covered it with gold embossing powder and heat set.

Added a gold colored filigree corner piece.

"Bronze" Color Perception ATC

The color is Bronze in August for the Color Perceptions ATC Swap on the ArtVentures Group. The ATC is to be predominately bronze and be how the color bronze makes us feel. Bronze is my favorite metallic color, it makes a great accent with any color and I find bronze to be "harmonious".
I sprayed some gold colored embossed paper with Bronzite Brass Color Mist and let it dry before cutting it.
Layered this sprayed embossed paper over kraft colored corrugated paper and added dark bronze metallic paper strips. Attached a bronze mini brad to a floral image and adhered 3 bronze colored dragonflies.

Adventure ATC

The theme for ATCs on ArtVentures group is "Adventure".
I prayed on some Perfect Pearls over background paper to add some shimmer to the paper.
Stamped compass image with Graphite Black Brilliance ink, covered with black detail embossing powder and heat set.
Used Distress Markers to color the compass, and heat set to prevent blending of the colors.
Added a vintage image, 3 mini star brads in the upper right corner and added some sticker sheet words.s

Summer ATC

On ArtVentures Group, the theme for ATCs is "Summer". I think of the short time we have for fun in the sun, so we need to "dive in" to enjoy the great weather and play in the sun!
First I used the dtp (direct to paper) application of different shades of yellow Distress Inks to card stock and heat set to stop of blending of colors.

Next, sponged on honey dye ink over a stencil, then stamped a sun image in orange Distress Ink, then heat set.

Used some paper that had excess blue paints and inks on it. Then stenciled on different shades of blue Distress Inks over different stencils on different ends of the paper.
Tore the blue paper into strips and added some stamped images with darker blue Distress ink.

Added a vintage image of a swimmer; stamped words with black Archival Ink.
